New Paperback!

Fresh from the publisher! My first copies of the new Chanel paperback which includes the first chapter of the sequel Heart of Glass! The books will be available two weeks from today and will be featured at Hudson News in airports all over the country! I think Gallery did a lovely job. And I absolutely love the Tiffany blue. That’s my mother on the cover and Robbie and I in the inset photo. I hope you like Chanel and will look forward to Heart of Glass which is being published in March, 2016.

HEART OF GLASS, the sequel to Chanel Bonfire is on its way! I turned in the manuscript to my wonderful editor and publisher just before Thanksgiving and am hard at work on the notes. Look for updates during the year on the progress and some sneak peeks at the story. Publication is set for January 2016!

First Record Album — Roxy Music

My First Album

Of all the glam bands in all the world, in platform shoes or high heels, Roxy music was and is my all-time favorite. This album, “For Your Pleasure”, released by Island Records in 1973, was the band’s second and the last featuring Brian Eno. The woman on the cover was lead singer and songwriter Brian Ferry’s girlfriend at the time, transsexual singer and model Amanda Lear. Judi Dench’s voice can be heard at the end of the title track saying, “You don’t ask. You don’t ask why.”

I bought the album with my own money at the WH Smith in Sloane Square and played it until the grooves wore out. That copy is lost now–a casualty of a peripatetic childhood and young adulthood. I may very well have left it in a taxi stuffed into one of the Bloomingdales bags I used to move apartments at a moment’s notice in New York in the early 80s. More of that in the sequel to Chanel which will be coming your way sometime next year from Gallery Books.

Ticket to the Elton John concert in the gym at The American School in London, where Robin and I were students. We ran outside to the back door afterwards to try for an autograph, but I only succeeded in tripping him. Sigh.
